Things are coming along now. I had a couple of crappy outings the first week, but then the last two have been really good. My wife and kids are here right now, and it really helps. I haven't seen my family in two months, so to have the kids around now is a lot of fun. It cuts back on my sleep a little bit, but at the same time, I'm a bit happier I suppose.
I can't plan too far in advance unless you are willing to eat up $1,000 in plane tickets if something happens, like I get called up or change teams or whatever. My wife threw it together right at the end of spring when I found out I was heading to Pawtucket. So we were able to make it work. They're going to be here for 19 days, which is a long trip for us. Normally it doesn't last more than a homestand, but we have a short three-day road trip and then come right back home for a two-series homestand, so they’re gonna hang out for that…and I'm able to spend a good amount of time with them. I couldn't set up the same kind of thing in two months from now because it’s hard to say for sure that I'll be here in two months.
On the field, we have two lefties in the big leagues right now…and me and another lefty here, and they are all really good and throwing really well. Who knows what's going to happen? I don't know. It's going to take a couple things falling my way for me to pitch in the big leagues with Boston as of right now. Who’s to say that in a week it’s not a completely different situation? You never really know. All I can do is be patient and keep doing everything I can to stay ready and continue to pitch well. If I'm not doing that part, nothing matters. I gotta take care of that part and hopefully it'll all work out.
Our team has been playing really good baseball. The team is really good and has a lot of heart. Even though I'm in AAA, I'm still really enjoying myself.
I'm going to do everything I can to keep you guys updated on my baseball stuff throughout the year. But I think my next post should be about the new “Avengers” movie, and maybe the “Star Wars” trailer. It's a pretty exciting time in my life to see all these nerdy movies come out!
